You do have to join the group, but it’s free and most everyone exchanges the follow.
There’s a couple of people there that seem to be trying to get follows without doing
it back. No problem though. Just unfollow these 2-3 people.

    Doesn’t following a bunch of people you may not be interested in kind of defeat the whole point of Twitter?

    Yes, It does. However…
    If this was a blog on horticulture and I placed this link it would be totally useless. Our blog followers are Marketer’s and the link provided are entreprenuers, small business, self employed/employed marketer’s. Most of us are interested in this particular industry.
